The official website for The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light (Nanatsu no Taizai: Hilarious ni Norowareshi Mono-Tachi), the all-new original anime film for The Seven Deadly Sins franchise, released a new teaser trailer for the film on Tuesday. The video reveals the film's July 2 premiere. The site also unveiled a new visual that reads, "Farewell, Seven Deadly Sins."


The film will feature an all-new story by original manga author Nakaba Suzuki and will be set after The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement anime.


Takayuki Hamana is directing the film at Studio Deen, with Rintarō Ikeda writing the film's scripts. The cast from the first five seasons and the first anime film return for the new anime film.


The 1st season of the TV anime adaptation aired from October 5, 2014, to March 29, 2015, with 24-episodes. . A four-episode of television anime special titled The Seven Deadly Sins – Signs of Holy War- then premiered on August 28, 2016. The 2nd season aired from January 13 to June 30, 2018, with 24-episodes. The 3rd season aired from October 9, 2019, to March 25, 2020, with 24-episodes. The 4th season (currently ongoing) aired on January 13, 2021.

Suzuki launched The Seven Deadly Sins manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2012 and ended it in March 2020. The series is licensed for English language release in North America by Kodansha USA, who published the first volume on March 11, 2014. As the series was published in Japan, it was released simultaneously in English digitally by Crunchyroll in over 170 countries.


Suzuki launched The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse (Mokushiroku no Yon-Kishi), the direct sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins manga, in Weekly Shōnen Magazine on January 27, 2021. The series is simulpublished in English by Kodansha USA.
