The official website for The Quintessential Quintuplets anime on Wednesday released a new visual, TV commercial and additional staff for the second season.
The 2nd season will premiere in Japan in January 2021 on TBS, Sun TV, and BS11. The anime was originally scheduled to premiere in October 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kaori ( How to keep a mummy) is directing the new season. He is replacing Satoshi Kuwabara. Keiichirō Ōchi is returning from the first season to oversee the series scripts. Bibury Animation Studio (Azur Lane, Grisaia: Phantom Trigger) is animating the second season, replacing Tezuka Productions. Masato Katsumata (Azur Lane Assistant Animation Director) is providing the character designs and serving as chief animation director. Hanae Nakamura and Miki Sakurai are returning to compose the music.
Additional staffs include Akihito Ougiyama as the Art Director, Aiko Matsuyama as the colour designer, and Daisuke Chiba as the Director of Photography. The editing will be done by Mutsumi Takemiya, with Hajime Tawakuwa as the Sound Director, and Nichion as the Music Production. Dax Production will be overseeing the Sound Production.
The 1st season of the anime premiered from January 10, 2019, to March 28, 2019, with 12-episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series with Funimation providing the English dub.
Kodansha Comics is releasing Negi Haruba's manga digitally and in print, and it describes the story as:
"One day, a poor high school second-year named Futaro Uesugi comes across a private tutoring gig with good pay. But his pupils are his classmates!! And they're quintuplets!! A-and they're all gorgeous girls, but they're also troublemakers who hate to study and are on the verge of flunking out! And his first task is simply gaining the sisters' trust?! Every day is a party! The curtain is rising on the Nakano quintuplets' quirky romantic comedy with five times the cute!!"
The Quintessential Quintuplets manga series is written and illustrated by Negi Haruba. Before the serialization, a one-shot manga of the same name had been published in 2017 issue 8 of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on August 9, 2017. The series ended in the 12th issue on February 19, 2020.
