Popular manga 'Niji, Amaete yo (Niji, Lean on Me)' which is currently seralized in Shogakukan's shojo manga magazine 'Cheese!' recently received an offer for screen adaptation. The official website of Cheese! magazine broke the news on Saturday.
'Niji, Amaete yo' manga is created by renowned shojo manga artist Kotomi Aoki. Aoki launched the manga in Cheese! in July. The first volume of the manga was published by Shogakukan on 26th of October, while the second volume will be published on 25th of February.
Aoki has earlier received the Shogakukan Manga Award for her shōjo manga, Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu in the year 2008. Aoki's work includes popular manga such as Asa mo, Hiru mo, Yoru mo(Morning, Noon and Night), Ashita, Anata ga Mezame tara, Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu, Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru, Ijiwaru Shinaide!, Taiyou ga Ippai, Aishikata mo Wakarazuni, Jesus!, Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru, Kare wa Ike mo Shinai Kōshien wo Mezasu, Koisuru Heart ga No to Iu Love and Tears and Motto Ikitai.
Shogakukan has published around 6 million copies of Aoki's BokuKimi manga. Shogakukan published an English version of the first volume in Japan in 2009. The series received a live-action film adaptation in 2009.
Aoki's Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru manga was also adapted into a live-action film in 2013, which later inspired a live-action Korean show. Aoki's another popular manga Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru also inspired an OVA and a live-action film and in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
