Release date of the most awaited Netflix anime/manga adaptation film 'Death Note' is nearing. Director Adam Wingard shared a new poster of the live-action film on Thursday. The artwork of the poster featuring Keith Stanfield as 'L' is in black & white; giving it a manga style look and feel. Earlier released poster of Ryuk was also designed in manga style.

The film had earlier gone into a controversy for White-Washing the characters. One of the producer's of the film later Roy Lee clarified that the criticism would have been valid if the film's story was set in Japan, but since the adapted film is set in Seattle instead of Tokyo, the script demanded the characters to be of western origin. Lee suggested that the changes in the story were necessary, to make it more appealing to the US or the English speaking market.
The film will premiere via streaming on Netflix on 25th August. The film stars Keith Stanfield as L, Nat Wolff as Light Turner, Margaret Qualley as Mia Sutton, Paul Nakauchi as Watari and Shea Whigman as James Turner. Willem Dafoe has given voice for Ryuk's character.
The film is directed by The Guest and You're Next director Wingard, while Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee, Lin Pictures' Dan Lin, Viz Productions' Jason Hoffs and actor Masi Oka are producing the film.Doug Davison and Brian Witten are the executive producers for the live-action adaptation. Niija Kuyakendall and Nick Mavinkure are overseeing the project for Warner. The soundtrack for the film is composed by Atticus Ross and his brother Leopold Ross.
