The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's official twitter account announced on Monday that Kadokawa will publish a new novel from the author Nagaru Tanigawa and illustrator Noizi Ito's original novel series on November 25th, 2020. The new novel, titled Suzumiya Haruhi no Chokkan (The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya), will be the first new instalment in the novel series in more than 9 years. Pre-orders for the new novel start on Tuesday.
The new novel will release in Japan on November 25 in bookstores across Japan. The novel collects three stories, the "Nana Fushigi Overtime" (Seven Wonders Overtime) short story, "Atezuppo Numbers" (Random Numbers) short story, and a new story titled "Tsuruya-san no Chōsen" (Tsuruya's Challenge). The full novel will have more than 250 pages.
Tanigawa and Ito published 11 novels for the original series between 2003-2011. The light novel series has more than 20 million copies in print.
The first season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series aired from April 2, 2006, to July 2, 2006, with 14 episodes in a non-linear order, and was rebroadcast in 2009 with 28 episodes and a new chronological order.
The first novel of the series, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was awarded the Grand Prize in the eighth annual Sneaker Awards—only the third Grand Prize is given out in the Award's history.
