Netflix Reveals Pacific Rim: The Black Anime Series for 2021 Release

Netflix Anime Festival 2020 announced that Pacific Rim: The Black anime series will release in 2021, and revealed its first teaser visuals.


The series is getting 'Exclusive worldwide distribution in 2021' via Netflix.


The images were posted on the official Netflix Japan Anime account on Twitter and feature a brother and sister team of Jaeger pilots, as well as a massive Kaiju wreaking havoc in the ruins of a city. The official synopsis for Pacific Rim: The Black places the series sometime after the events of the first film, and is set in Australia.

The story is as follows:

Long ago, humanity defeated the Kaiju. Now, they’re evacuating Australia. Join a pair of siblings and their battered, long-abandoned Jaegar as they battle across a continent of danger.


Pacific Rim: The Black has been in development since 2018. Legendary Entertainment, who produced the live-action film, Pacific Rim and its sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising, will return to produce Pacific Rim: The Black. Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson will serve as showrunners, while Polygon Pictures handles animation duties.
