Manga Entertainment will be releasing My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising as a Blu-Ray/DVD as well as separate Blu-Ray and DVD on Monday, October 26, 2020.
Funimation describes the film as:
"Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do some real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it's more like a vacation … until they're attacked by a villain with an unfathomable Quirk! His power is eerily familiar, and it looks like Shigaraki had a hand in the plan. But with All Might retired and citizens' lives on the line, there's no time for questions. Deku and his friends are the next generations of heroes, and they're the island's only hope."
It is the second film based on the manga, My Hero Academia by Kōhei Horikoshi. The film was directed by Kenji Nagasaki, produced by Bones, and was released in Japan on December 20, 2019. It is also intended to be the last film adaptation for the franchise. Horikoshi explained that the second film can be described as a kind of a finale for My Hero Academia. That is because its story uses one of the concepts he had considered using in the manga's final battle. As such, he proclaimed that the second film is more "Plus Ultra" than even the first one.
Manga Entertainment will also release a double-pack on Blu-ray and DVD, including My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and the previous film My Hero Academia: Two Heroes.
Anime Limited will release the first volume of Sword Art Online: Alicization as a Collectors Blu-ray and a standard DVD.
Manabu Ono (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Saki, The Asterisk War) directed the anime at A-1 Pictures. Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale animation directors Gou Suzuki and Tomoya Nishiguchi joined Shingo Adachi for the character designs.
The anime will cover the entirety of the novels' "Alicization Arc." The Alicization arc is in volumes 9 through 18 of the original novel series.
