Kingdom Anime 3rd Season Resumes After COVID-19 Delay

The official website for the Kingdom anime announced on Monday that the third season is set to resume its broadcast in April 2021 after being postponed in April of this year due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The website also unveiled a new teaser video and visual for the new season's return.
The anime's production committee announced on April 26 earlier this year that it was delaying the broadcast of episode 5 and later episodes of the third season.
The third season of the anime of Yasuhisa Hara's Kingdom manga premiered on NHK General on April 5 at 24:15 (effectively, April 6 at 12:15 a.m.). Funimation is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan.
The historical manga centres around the slave boy Xin and his dream of becoming a great general for the state of Qin. Xin helps Ying Zheng, the young Qin king who shares his desire to unify China, rise to power within the state. Xin does all he can to become a superior commander of an army capable of defeating the Seven Warring States.
Hara launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2006. Hara said he is considering writing up to 100 volumes.
The 1st season of the anime aired from June 4, 2012, to February 25, 2013, with 38 episodes. The 2nd season aired from June 8, 2013, to March 1, 2014, with 39 episodes.
The manga also inspired a live-action film adaptation by Shinsuke Satō that opened in Japan last April. Funimation began screening the film in theatres in the United States and Canada in August 2019.
