Doraemon Anime Celebrates Manga's 50th Anniversary With New Special

The official Doraemon anime website announced on Thursday that the anime will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut of Fujiko F. Fujio's original Doraemon manga on Saturday at 4:30 p.m JST, with an anime special that will contain three anime episodes.
Gen Hoshino, who performed the anime's current opening theme song, will appear in the special and introduce his favourite episode from the anime, the 1973 episode "Ultra Mixer." A remake of the episode will air on Saturday.
In addition, Violinist Chisako Takashima will also appear and introduce her favourite episode, "The Mood-Changing Orchestra." The episode will air on Saturday with a newly recorded orchestral part. The episode was previously remade in 2015.
And to commemorate the 50th anniversary, "Nobita's Dinosaur" story from the manga will once again be animated, this time in the form of a new episode that will air on Saturday. It is a story that depicts the interaction between Nobita and Ryu/ Piisuke.
The voice actress of Piisuke, in a message to the viewers said, " I think this story reminds me that it is very important to be able to casually spend time with friends and family. I hope that this story will once again make you happy and feel the importance of your friends and the preciousness of spending time together."
Doraemon manga first debuted in 1969 and appeared in six different children's monthly magazines published by Shogakukan. It is the best-selling manga for children and one of the best-selling manga in the world.
The anime series is available in over 30 countries. The Doraemon film series sold more than 103 million tickets at the Japanese box office by 2015, surpassing Godzilla as the highest-grossing film franchise in Japan, and the films grossed over $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office, making Doraemon the highest-grossing anime film franchise.
