The new Pokémon anime Movie produced by OLM, is about to hit screens in Japan. The movie is titled as 'Gekijō-ban Poketto Monsutā Kimi ni kimeta!' in Japan; and as 'Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You' for the rest of the world. This movie is the 20th Pokemon movie and the first one in the Sun and Moon series. The movie is a remake of the Indigo League Saga, and is released to commemorate the anime's 20th anniversary.

'Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You' was first premiered at Japan Expo which was held in France on 6th July. The movie got negative feedback for omitting two immensely popular characters Brock and Misty. Both are Ash's precious companions and the three of them are together for a very long time in the original anime. Yet the creaters decided to replace them with completely new characters Souji and Makoto. Souji is a young trainer who aims to become a Pokémon Professor, while Makoto is an energetic trainer who travels alongside Ash and Souji.

The cast of the film is as follows:

Character Voice Actor

Satoshi (Ash Ketchum) Rica Matsumoto Pikachu Ikue Ōtani Professor Okido (Professor Oak) Unshō Ishizuka Musashi (Jessie) Megumi Hayashibara Kojiro (James) Shin-ichiro Miki Nyarth (Meowth) Inuko Inuyama Nurse Joy Shoko Nakagawa Souji Kanata Hongō Makoto Shiori Sato

Apart from Souji and Makoto the film also introduces some new characters such as:

  • Ho-Oh, the mysterious Rainbow Pokémon who is extensively known in legends.

  • Marshadow, the Gloomdweller Pokémon, who is shy enough to reveal itself to people. Voice actor Kōichi Yamadera is giving voice for the character.

  • Bonzi, a mysterious old man who knows about the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh and is determined to chase it at any costs. The voice for Bonzi is given by Arata Furuta.

  • Cross, an arrogant trainer who believes strength is everything and aims to become the ultimate Trainer.

The film has a brief appearance of Brock, Mitsy and Ash's few other old friends - Tracey, May, Max, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, Serena, Boonie and Clemont in the end credits of the Film. 'Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You' will hit the screens of 15th of July in Japan.
