Boruto: Naruto Next Generation anime series is on air and it has mostly received a positive response from the critics. The official website of the Naruto Shippuden sequeal anime series recently revealed a new visual for the anime's upcoming adaptation of one-volume Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring manga. The arc centring on Sarada Uchiha, which is written by Masashi Kishimoto himself; is scheduled to premiere in the month of August.

This story takes place fifteen years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, and focuses on Sasuke and Sakura Uchiha's daughter; Sarada. It acts as a prelude for Boruto: Naruto the Movie. Viz Media released the manga volume in English in print in January 2016.

Boruto: Naruto Next generation anime series is directed by Noriyuki Abe. The series started airing on TV Tokyo on April 5, 2017. Unlike the manga that started as a retelling of the film Boruto: Naruto the Movie, the anime acts like a prequel before Boruto and his friends became ninja. Viz Media is simulcasting the series on Hulu as it airs in Japan, with new episodes every Wednesday. Crunchyroll is also streaming the anime.
