The anime film adaptation of Natsuki Kizu's boys-love manga Given has earned a total of 220 million yen from its two-month domestic run. It was also previously reported on the anime's official Twitter account that the film sold one million tickets in its first four weeks.
In its opening weekend, the film was released in only 30 theatres, but with the initial box office success and critical acclaims, 54 more theatres across Japan were added from September 25, 2020. Additional 50,000 tickets were sold after it was added in those theatres.
The 59-minute long film released on August 22 stayed at No.1 on Kogyotsushinsha's Mini Theater Ranking for five consecutive weeks.
It was also announced that the film's DVD and Blu-ray are set to be released in Japan on February 3, 2021. Its perfect limited production edition set will come with a three-way spine case newly drawn by the manga author Natsuki Kizu, an original soundtrack CD, a character design sheet book, a special booklet with a newly-drawn manga by Kizu, and illustration cards. And the set's bonus disc will include the film's trailers, CMs, and special footage featuring the main cast members' talk sessions that were screened in theatres for a limited time.
The TV anime series adaptation first aired from July 11 to September 19, 2019. It aired on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block and was the first yaoi series to air on Noitamina.
The manga has serialized in the bimonthly magazine Cheri+ since April 2013. In Japan, the series has been collected into five bound volumes published by Shinshokan. An English-language translation is published by Viz Media under their SuBLime imprint, with the first volume released in February 2020.
The series follows a group of four students in an amateur rock band, and the dual romantic relationships that form among them: between electric guitarist Ritsuka Uenoyama and vocalist Mafuyu Satō, and between bassist Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji.
