Hakusensha, the Japanese publisher announced today that the 30th anniversary of Kentaro Miura's internationally acclaimed dark fantasy manga Berserk will hold a special event "Dai Berserk-ten" (Big Berserk Exhibition) to celebrate the momentous occasion. It is scheduled to be held at Ikebukuro Sunshine City's Exhibition Hall A in Tokyo from January 30 to February 15, 2021.
The art exhibition will include the following:
* "Berserk Chronicles" - The events and the main characters' trends in the story are introduced with the original manga drawings and chronological panels.
* "Cover Art Collection" - All of the cover arts of the 40 volumes are displayed.
* "Famous dialogues and scenes" & "Character Directory" - The iconic dialogues and scenes are introduced with their original manga drawings.
* Displays of three-dimensional objects and dioramas of the famous landmarks, real-size character statues, and many more.
Also, a crowdfunding campaign for a giant Zodd statue to display at the venue was launched today. The goal is to reach 10 million yen (about US$ 94,475). The statue will be around the same size as he is portrayed in the story (350cm-tall when in his apostle form). Those who support the campaign will receive original limited goods as a return gift. The crowdfunding is scheduled to be closed at 23:59 on October 31 (JST).
The Berserk manga started its serialization in Hakusensha's Monthly Animal House in October 1989. On November 26, 1990, the first tankōbon volume of the manga was published by Hakusensha under its Jets Comics imprint. As of September 2018, 40 volumes have been published.
It has been adapted into a twenty-five episode anime TV series covering the series' Golden Age arc by Oriental Light and Magic, which aired from October 1997 to March 1998. A trilogy of films, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc, was released beginning in 2012. A second anime TV adaptation was broadcast in 2016 and 2017 for a total of twenty-four episodes.
