Attack on Titan Final Season to Premiere on December 7

The official Attack on Titan website and twitter account has announced today that the highly anticipated final season of the Attack on Titan anime series will premiere on December 7, 2020 at 12:10 AM JST. Japan's national broadcaster NHK-G will be broadcasting the series in Japan.

A new visual for the series was released alongside the announcement.

The series will adapt the ongoing manga arc from Hajime Isayama. He confirmed in an interview with TBS in June 2020 that the manga series was "about 5%" away from completion.

Mappa will be taking over the production of the anime from Wit Studio. The final season's lead staff includes director Yuichiro Hayashi, character designer Tomohiro Kishi, chief animation director Daisuke Niinuma, art director Kazuo Ogura, 3D CG Director Takahiro Uezono, scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko, and music composers Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto.

The final season will follow the story in chapter 91 of the manga series and initially focus on what happened to Eren and his team in the immediate aftermath of season 3.

The 1st season of the anime aired from April 7, 2013, and September 29, 2013, with 25-episodes. The 2nd season aired from April 1, 2017, to June 17, 2017, with 12-episodes. And the 3rd season, with two parts, aired from July 23, 2018, and July 1, 2019, with a combined 22-episodes. Other Attack on Titan related manga/light novels were also adapted into anime.
