Ani-One To Stream New Higurashi When They Cry Anime Alongside TV Premiere On October 1

MediaLink Entertainment Limited's Ani-One YouTube channel announced on Saturday that it will stream the new Higurashi: When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) anime project on October 1 at 9:00 p.m. IST. The episodes will air close to the Japan telecast every week.

Alongside India and Hong Kong, alongside Hong Kong and India, Ani-One will stream the anime in Brunei, Cambodia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Macau.

The anime is scheduled to premiere on October 1, 2020, on Tokyo MX and BS11. It is listed for 14 episodes, with the first 13 episodes airing from October 1, and episode 14 airing on January 7, 2021.

Akio Watanabe (Monogatari anime series) is designing the characters, and Passione (Citrus, High School DxD Hero) is animating the project. Infinite is producing the series. Naoki Hayashi (Citrus) is in charge of the series composition for the anime. Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Mobile Suit Gundam 00) is returning as the composer for the series.

The original anime series cast members will also be returning with, Sōichiro Hoshi as Keiichi Maebara, Mai Nakahara as Rena Ryūgū, Satsuki Yukino as Mion Sonozaki, Mika Kanai as Satoko Hōjō, and Yukari Tamura as Rika Furude. The other cast members include Chafurin as Kuraudo Ooishi, Toru Ohkawa as Jirō Tomitake, Miki Itō as Miyo Takano, Toshihiko Seki as Kyōsuke Irie.

The original anime series was produced by Studio Deen and directed by Chiaki Kon, covers the four question arcs and the first two answer arcs. The original Higurashi no Naku Koro ni anime adaptation aired in Japan between April 4 and September 26, 2006, comprising of 26-episodes. A continuation of the series, based on one new story arc and the final two original answer arcs of the franchise titled as, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, aired in Japan between July 6 and December 17, 2007, containing 24-episodes.
