New Short Spinoff Announced For 'Ancien and The Magic Tablet' Anime Film


The official website of the latest anime film 'Ancien and the Magic Tablet' (Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari) directed by Kenji Kamiyama, announced its plans to make a short anime spinoff titled 'Ancien to Maho Mahō no Tablet ~Mō Hitotsu no Hirune Hime' (Ancien and the Magic Tablet ~Another Napping Princess) on Thursday. The spinoff will make its debut on Hulu Japan in early March.


Most of the actors from the film will also voice roles in the spinoff. Voice artist Mitsuki Takahata is confirmed to voice both Kokone Morikawa and Ancien, while Joy's character will be reprised by Rie Kugimiya. Similarly, Yosuke Eguchi will voice Kokone's father Momotaro and the character Peach. Watanabe's voice artist from the film, Arata Furuta will we voice the role of Bewan in the short. On the other hand, Hideki Takahashi will voice the Heartland King in the short, who was originally playing as Isshin Shijima in the film.


The short will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama himself, while Takashi Sano will assist him as the episode director and storyboard artist.


Ancien and the Magic Tablet film is set to release in Japan on 18th March. The New York International Children's Film Festival (NYICFF) will screen the film on March 19th in Japanese with English subtitles.
